CSA Binder – Calcium Sulfoaluminate Hydraulic Binder

Product Overview

CSA Binder is the main raw material of the CSA cement. It is very suitable to work as raw materials of various dry mix mortars such as self-leveling, waterproofing, and quick repair.. User can mix it with different ration of anhydrite to adjust the setting time and get early strength. What’s more, some of the clients prefer to import this raw material because it can reduce the production cost due to the lower cost of anhydrite. Anhydrite can be mixed together with other additives and admixtures when producing the dry-mix mortars.

CSA binder is widely used as a core ingredient for producing special cements and advanced mortar systems, particularly where fast hardening and shrinkage compensation are required.

Key Characteristics

Fast Setting and Rapid Strength Development

CSA binder hydrates quickly and can achieve initial setting within about 12–30 minutes, allowing construction materials to gain strength in a very short time.

High Early Strength

Mortars and concretes containing CSA binder can develop significant compressive strength within the first 24 hours, improving construction efficiency and enabling earlier load-bearing capacity.

Shrinkage Compensation

During hydration, the formation of ettringite crystals generates slight expansion that helps reduce drying shrinkage and cracking in cement-based materials.

Excellent Durability

CSA binder contributes to strong durability properties including:

Resistance to sulfate attack,Good impermeability,Freeze–thaw resistance, Low alkalinity

These characteristics enhance the service life of building materials and infrastructure systems.

Environmentally Friendly

Compared with conventional Portland cement systems, CSA-based binders can contribute to lower carbon emissions and improved sustainability in construction materials.

Applications

CSA binder is widely used as a functional binder or additive in many cement-based materials:

Construction Mortars

Rapid repair mortars; Non-shrink grouts; High-performance plaster systems

Self-Leveling Compounds

CSA binder improves the setting speed and early strength of self-leveling floor screeds and smoothing compounds.

Concrete Repair

It is frequently used in infrastructure repair, including roads, bridges, and airport pavements where rapid reopening is required.

Shotcrete and Sprayed Concrete

CSA binder enhances early strength in sprayed concrete applications such as tunnel linings and mining support materials.

Dry-Mix Construction Materials

It is commonly used in the production of: Tile adhesives; Special mortars; Waterproofing mortars; Rapid-setting cement systems

Precast and GRC Products

CSA binder is suitable for glass fiber reinforced concrete (GRC) components and precast building elements due to its low shrinkage and strong early strength.

Compatibility with Other Materials

CSA binder can be used alone or combined with other materials such as:

Portland cement

Calcium sulfate or gypsum

Mineral fillers

Polymer additives

By adjusting the formulation and additives, manufacturers can control setting time, rheology, expansion behavior, and mechanical strength to meet specific application requirements.

Packaging and Storage

CSA binder is usually supplied in:

25 kg or 50 kg bags

ton jumbo bags with moisture protection

For best performance, the material should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment and protected from moisture exposure during transport and storage.
